We recently completed a full passenger lift modernisation of a 2-floor, 8-person, 630kg passenger lift at a busy library in Bakewell, bringing the installation fully up to modern performance, reliability, and safety standards.
As part of the modernisation works, we carried out:
Full lift rewiring throughout the installation
LED emergency lighting upgrade
New energy-efficient LED car lighting
New shaft lighting installation
Replacement shaft limits and stop switches
Installation of new pit ladders
Updated safety signage throughout the lift system
Furthermore, all works were completed in full compliance with British Standards Institution BS EN 81 safety standards. Ensuring the lift now meets current industry regulations for passenger safety, accessibility, and maintenance compliance.
In addition, the project involved a complete upgrade of the electrical and control systems, including the installation of a new British-made Lion Lifts control panel. This provides improved efficiency, smoother operation, and enhanced long-term reliability. Older control systems become prone to faults and harder to repair because replacement parts become obsolete. Also, a modern control panel reduces breakdowns and improves lift uptime. Modern controllers optimise lift movement and door timing, resulting in smoother rides, quicker response times, reduced waiting times and better floor levelling accuracy. Finally, by carrying out this passenger lift modernisation, we have offered our customers peace of mind and a longer lifespan for the lift.
As a result, the completed Library in Bakewell passenger lift modernisation has significantly improved the reliability, safety, and overall user experience of the lift while future-proofing the installation for years to come.
