Scissor Lift Control Panel Modernisation – Nursing Home, Ilkeston
We recently completed a full scissor lift controls modernisation project at a busy nursing home in Ilkeston. In contrast, we are delivering a significant upgrade to the reliability, safety, and long-term performance of the lift system.
In addition, the existing lift controls had become increasingly problematic due to the age of the equipment and the difficulty in sourcing replacement parts.
Staff at the nursing home had experienced intermittent faults, unreliable operation, and occasional downtime. All of which can have a major impact in a care environment where safe and dependable access equipment is essential daily.
As a result, after a detailed site survey and fault assessment, our engineers designed a complete modernisation package tailored specifically to the existing lift installation.
Therefore, the aim was to retain the main mechanical structure of the scissor lift while replacing the outdated electrical control equipment with a modern, more serviceable solution.
Scope of Scissor Lift Controls Modernisation Works-
As a result, the project involved the full strip-out of the existing obsolete control equipment and the installation of a new custom-built control panel designed to improve operational performance and simplify future maintenance.
Works completed included:
Removal and disposal of outdated control components
Replacement of contactors, relays, and associated electrical hardware
Rewiring and termination of lift control circuits
Full system commissioning and operational testing
Working Within a Live Care Environment–
Consequently, the nursing home remained fully operational throughout the works; careful planning was essential to minimise disruption to residents, visitors, and staff.
Our engineers coordinated closely with site management to schedule key stages of the installation around the daily routines of the home. Noise and downtime were kept to an absolute minimum, and all works were carried out with strict attention to site safety and cleanliness.
We understand the importance of reliability within healthcare and care home settings, where lift systems often play a critical role in daily operations and accessibility.
Benefits of the Modernisation-
The newly upgraded control system has transformed the overall performance of the lift and delivered several long-term benefits for the client, including:
Improved Reliability
The replacement of ageing components has significantly reduced the likelihood of breakdowns and intermittent faults.
Easier Maintenance
Modern control equipment allows faults to be diagnosed more quickly, reducing future maintenance time and improving service efficiency.
Enhanced Safety
Updated safety circuitry and modern electrical components help ensure the lift operates in line with current safety expectations.
Extended Equipment Lifespan
By modernising the control system provided by Lion Lift Controls rather than replacing the entire lift. Thus, the client has achieved a cost-effective upgrade while extending the usable life of the installation.
Reduced Downtime
The improved stability and performance of the system provide greater confidence for staff who rely on the lift every day.
Project Outcome –
Finally, the project was completed successfully, on schedule, and with minimal disruption to the nursing home’s operations.
The client now benefits from a modern, dependable scissor lift control system that is easier to maintain, safer to operate, and far more reliable for everyday use.
In conclusion, at Bridge Lifts, we specialise in lift control upgrades, refurbishments, and modernisation projects across a wide range of industries and environments.
